On May 22, 2018, a follower was detained in Perm Jehovah's Witnesses. Alexander Solovyov and his wife Anna were detained at the railway station upon their return. from a trip abroad, later his wife was released, and he himself was sent to a temporary detention center for 48 hours.
On the night of May 22-23, the Solovyovs' apartment was searched, during which, according to the European Association of Jehovah's Witnesses, documents, photographs, electronic devices and media were seized information, collection of bibles.
It can be assumed that Solovyov is suspected of continuing activities of the local community of Jehovah's Witnesses. Recall that we consider the persecution of believers under Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code, based on the prohibition of the Control Center and local religious organizations of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia, unlawful.
On May 24, 2018, the Sverdlovsk District Court, contrary to the request of the investigator to place Solovyov in a pre-trial detention center, chose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest with a ban on using the telephone and the Internet, as well as communicating with other defendants or witnesses in the case. On November 19, 2018, Solovyov's preventive measure was again changed - house arrest was lifted from him, only the prohibition of certain actions listed above remained.
