The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said that immediately after the collapse of the Boeing of the Malaysian Boeing in the Donetsk region in 2014, Russia provided “comprehensive evidence” of Ukraine’s involvement in the incident. In fact, all these evidence is easily refuted.
Four days after the incident at the press conference of the Ministry of Defense, satellite pictures supposedly proving that shortly before the death of the MH17 flight, the Ukrainian self-propelled fire installation “Buk” was withdrawn from the base in the area of the village of Spartak near Donetsk and was relocated to the field south of the village of Zarashchenskoye, where it was posted on July 17, 2014 together with another SOU. “Bee” and another unit of military equipment. But in the satellite picture taken almost at the same time, which Bellingcat acquired, there were noticeable differences, and Dr. Jeffrey Lewis from the Institute of International Research Middlebury, using an advanced digital analysis tool, proved that he proved that Russian satellite pictures were subjected to significant digital installation.
Also, Russia was put forward that the airliner was shot down by a Ukrainian plane, which was allegedly seen on Russian radars. But in 2016, the Ministry of Defense held the following press conference, at which recently “discovered” data from the radar were presented, and there was no longer there.
The Ministry of Defense claimed that the video with Bucus, which was later identified as an instrument of murder of passengers MH17, was shot in the controlled by Ukraine of Krasnoarmeysk. However, Bellingcat proved that the video was made on the territory of Lugansk, and the inscription on the banner (“G. Krasnoarmeysk, 34 Dnepropetrovskaya St.”), which Russia cited as evidence, was fabricated.
And, finally, the fourth evidence of the guilt of Ukraine, which led the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation immediately after the disaster, consisted in the map of the MH17 trajectory, shown at a press conference. It allegedly shows the changes in the course, due to which the Boeing flew over the war zone in Ukraine. Since then, the Ministry of Defense has never used this map. It was later proved that there was no deviation from the course.
Boeing-777, which executed the MH17 flight along the Amsterdam-Kuala-Lumpur route, crashed on July 17, 2014 in the Donetsk region. All the 283 passengers and 15 crew members were killed on board. On May 24, the United Investigative Group (JIT) cited evidence that the airliner was shot down from the Russian Buk, which belonged to the 53rd anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Air Defense of the Air Defense, based in Kursk.
The Insider and Bellingcat conducted a joint investigation and established the last of the two main sought -looking suspects in the case of Boeing MH17. It turned out to be the current GRU General Oleg Vladimirovich Ivannikov, also known as the former Minister of Defense of South Ossetia Andrei Laptev. He led the actions of Russian troops in Ukraine under the call sign of Orion and, among other things, commanded the “Wagner PMC”.
