In Russia, VAT can be increased from 18 to 20%, which will help collect about 2 trillion rubles for the budget over 6 years.
As Vedomosti writes, citing its sources, this option is one of the most likely, although not final. The government needs money to implement the “May” decree of President Vladimir Putin, for which it is necessary to find an additional 8 trillion rubles. The already announced increase in the retirement age will give the budget another 2 trillion rubles.
The remaining missing 4 trillion will come from the already announced measures. The state will borrow 3 trillion rubles to finance infrastructure by placing OFZs and forming a temporary fund within the budget. And the budget will receive 1 trillion rubles from the taxation reform of the oil industry - zeroing out the export duty and compensating increase in the mineral extraction tax.
