Shchuchye: teenager convicted of xenophobic graffiti and social media posts

A 17-year-old teenager was convicted in the Kurgan region for xenophobic graffiti on walls of houses and the publication of xenophobic materials on social networks.

In May 2017, the Shchuchansky District Court of the Kurgan Region delivered a verdict in the case of a 17-year-old teenager who was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activities) and part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred and enmity).

According to the case file, from June 29, 2016 to September 30, 2017, a teenager from his laptop placed in free access on one of the social networks photos, audio and video recordings aimed at "inciting hatred, enmity or racial discord against Caucasians, Jews, Asians and people of the Negroid race."

On the night of November 3-4, 2017, a minor, using an aerosol can with black paint, applied anti-Caucasian inscriptions on the facades of a number of buildings.

The teenager admitted his guilt in committing the incriminated acts.

The court sentenced him to 3 years in prison, conditionally with a trial period of 2 years, with deprivation of the right to use the Internet for 6 months.
