Racism and xenophobia. Results of June 2018

IN June 2018, at least 7 people suffered from xenophobic violence in Moscow, Novosibirsk and Samara regions. A total of 3 people have died from racist violence since the beginning of the year man and 12 people were injured. Incidents were recorded in 6 regions Russia.

For June, the SOVA center knows about only one attack on a religious object: an attack on a mosque in Belogorsk. In total, since the beginning of 2018, we have recorded 8 acts of xenophobic attacks on buildings in 7 regions of the country.

In June nationalists took part in some opposition actions. June 10 far right the movement "Right Bloc" together with its allied organization "For Democracy" took part in the opposition action "For a free Russia without repressions and Arbitrariness”, which took place on Sakharov Avenue and was organized by liberal opposition figures. In total, since the beginning of 2018, we have known 97 sentences for xenophobic statements against 98 people in 49 regions of the country.
