Vladimir Putin called the issue of pension reform “very sensitive” and stated that he and most government members “do not like” the idea of increasing the age of retirement, Life reports. Earlier, the president did not publicly speak about this reform.
Putin noted that the question of the reform "arose not yesterday." “I don’t like any option, which is associated with raising the retirement age,” he said. The government is also “few” supporters of this measure, “because the overwhelming majority of citizens cannot like it,” he emphasized.
According to Putin, the final decision has not yet been made. The president added that the government should rely on the assessments of economists when making a decision.
Recall, on July 19, the State Duma adopted a bill on raising the retirement age in the first reading. It is planned to increase for men up to 65 by 2028, for women - up to 63 years by 2034.
