The head of the Serpukhov district, Alexander Shestun, announced a hunger strike in a pre -trial detention center

The arrested head of the Serpukhov district of the Moscow Region Alexander Shestun for the fourth day holds a hunger strike in the Lefortovo pre -trial detention center. According to Interfax, an employee of the socio-observation commission Yevgeny Enikeev said this.

According to him, Shestun protests against refusing to certify the power of attorney in the name of his wife to submit documents to the election commission, as well as preventive measures in the form of arrest.

Shestun declared his intention to re -elect to the post of head of the Serpukhov district. He was arrested by the decision of the Basmanny Court on June 14 on charges of exceeding the official powers that entails grave consequences. He faces up to ten years in prison.

According to the investigation, in 2008 the head of the district contributed to the registration of land in the ownership of a commercial organization through a scheme that has criminal signs.

Shestun himself insists that the case is fabricated and that he did not sign decisions on the transfer of land. He also stated that he has audio recordings and other documents that compromise senior FSB officers and other departments.
