Some of the fountains in St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad were disconnected on the day of the Airborne Forces on August 2. It is reported by Interfax.
The press service of the State Unitary Enterprise Vodokanal St. Petersburg reported that the fountains were disabled on Moscow Square and in the Alexander Garden. It is clarified that they stopped working at the request of the district administrations.
“The remaining fountains of the city will work as usual, but under the close observation of the teams on duty. At the first appearance of people in the bowl of the fountain, the water supply will be discontinued until the outsiders are abandoned by hydraulic power, ”the press service of the St. Petersburg Vodokanal emphasized.
To observe the order of the most popular fountains among the “bathing” fountains in the park of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg, at the Winter Palace, Kazan Cathedral and on the battery road there will be an enterprise on duty and employees. Vodokanal explained that people often bathe in the fountain complex on Moscow Square: the management enterprise was forced to close the fountain and cancel the light music shows due to “foam parties” and bathing for city holidays.
In Kaliningrad, during the celebration of Airborne Forces Day, paratroopers will also not be able to swim in city fountains, a source in the army unit told the agency.
“Despite the abnormally hot weather, the authorities turned off the fountains in those places where this holiday is usually celebrated. And this despite the fact that in Kaliningrad, bathing in the fountains of former paratroopers never was massive and did not lead to breakdowns of equipment, ”the agency quoted the reserve officer as saying.
The city administration said that the disconnection of 8 of the 12 Kaliningrad fountains is not associated with the Airborne Forces Day, but with the prevention.
