France Minister of Culture Francoise Nissen awarded the title of commander of the Order of Arts and Literature to Russian director Kirill Serebrennikov. This was reported by the French radio station RFI.

“In accordance with the decree signed on Thursday, the Minister of Culture of France Francoise Nissen, Russian director Kirill Serebrennikov, who is under house arrest in Moscow, becomes the commander of the Order of Arts and Literature during the year,” the report said.

Serebrennikov is suspected of organizing the theft of funds allocated to the Ministry of Culture in 2011-2014 on the implementation of the Platform theater project on the basis of the seventh studio production company. Initially, it was about 68 million rubles, but in January the UK increased the damage assessment to 133 million rubles.
