The complete blocking of the Telegram messenger today is impossible to achieve. Such a statement was made by the Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of Russia Alexei Volin.
“It is impossible to block Telegram, because today, in principle, it is impossible to completely block anything on the Internet. If the one you block has a sufficient number of intellectual, material and IT resources, then such a large player is able to avoid blocking. This is the givenness with which you need to live, ”said Volin.
Recall that in 2017, the Russian authorities had claims to the messenger in connection with the company's refusal to provide keys at the request of the FSB for decryption of user messages.
This week it became known that Telegram updated his confidentiality policy, saying that "he was ready to disclose data on the users suspects in the terrorism of the authorities, if there is a corresponding court decision on this." At the same time, the founder of the messenger Pavel Durov said that Telegram would not answer the appeals of the Russian special services. According to him, such a decision is due to the fact that Telegram in Russia is “outlawed”, “hundreds of IP addresses are blocked daily in attempts to stop access to the service.”
