The ex-head of the bank, which served the Russian Orthodox Church, sentenced to 8 years the colony for theft of 760 million rubles

The former chairman of the Board of Ergobank, who served the Russian Orthodox Church, Vyacheslav Barmin received 8 years in a penal colony for the theft of almost 760 million rubles. This was reported by RBC with reference to the press secretary of the Tver court of Moscow Anastasia Dzüko.

According to the investigation, in December 2015, Barmin took advantage of the cash orders made on his behalf of Ergobank by his employees, and seized the currency in dollars, euros and rubles in the amount of 758.8 million rubles from the bank's vault. Then he spent this money on his own needs.

In 2016, the Central Bank withdrew a license from Ergobank. Previously, he proved 61 organizations of the Russian Orthodox Church. According to RBC, the Russian Orthodox Church was negotiating on a possible purchase of a banking control package.
