A resident of Kazan was not allowed into the pool wearing a burkini

Kazan resident Iraida Shafigullina complained to the prosecutor's office for a ban on visiting the pool in a Muslim bathing suit - burkini, although for two years it was possible.

On October 5, 2018, it became known that a 71-year-old resident Kazan Iraida Shafigullina appealed to the prosecutor's office with a complaint against the administration of the sports and recreation of the Aquarena complex, which forbade her to swim in the pool in a burkini - a Muslim bathing suit. The applicant considered this prohibition to be discrimination on the basis of religious sign. She asks to file a case against the administration of the pool under Art. 136 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of equality of rights and freedoms person and citizen).

Shafigullina visited the pool in a burkini for two years, and all this time, her appearance did not cause any complaints. But at the end of September pool staff asked her to get out of the water and said that in a closed You can't swim in a suit. At the same time, in the rules posted before entering the pool there is no such prohibition. However, the pool's website states that "for the care of about cleanliness and hygiene it is forbidden to swim in a wetsuit, burkini (Muslim costume), in long swimming shorts " .

In early October, a woman was simply not allowed into a sports complex. “I asked the management to let me swim in a Muslim suit. I did not interfere with anyone, I did not threaten the integrity of Russia. Especially I have a subscription paid for , ”Shafigullina told reporters. Having received refusal, she turned to the prosecutor's office.
