The Queen of Great Britain Elizabeth II first publicly commented on the upcoming exit of Great Britain from the EU, noting the strength of the Union of the EU and Great Britain. It is reported by Sky News.
“We are facing new partnerships with Europe, and our most important asset are our common values and obligations. And they show that even despite the changes, our long union remains strong, and as innovators, trading partners and internationalists, we are confidently looking into the future, ”the queen said at a banquet in the Buckingham Palace.
Note that usually the queen does not express her position on issues regarding politics. After the British decision on leaving the EU, the media repeatedly tried to find out the queen's opinion regarding this topic. So, after the visit of US President Donald Trump to the UK, journalist Pierce Morgan asked the president if they were discussing Brexit. Trump then replied that the queen considers Brexit a “difficult question”.
