
The money allocated from the budget to continue the Platform project stopped arriving after the new Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky. According to Interfax, the artistic director of the Gogol Center, director Kirill Serebrennikov, stated this at a court hearing in the Seventh Studio case.
“You know, we had“ later ”. Then we had this “platform” and had to continue to work, and money in the budget stood out for it, as we learned from the case, ”Serebrennikov said during interrogation in the Meshchansky Court of Moscow.
“But the new Minister of Culture came, who said: we do not need all your experiments, contemporary art does not need, and all your experiments are at our own expense. And blocked, turned all the projects related to contemporary art. And all the money that was allocated to the “platform” took himself somewhere, ”the director said.
In December 2017, it became known that the Ministry of Culture destroyed the documents related to the theater project “Platform” due to the expiration of the storage period. This was then reported by lawyer Alexei Malobrodsky Ksenia Karpinskaya.
According to her, the Ministry of Culture said that some of the documents could get into the archive.
The Platform project was founded in October 2011. According to the materials of the indictment, Serebrennikov, along with the General Director of the Seventh Studio, Yuri Itin, the director of Gogol-Center, Alexei Malobrodsky and the director of the Russian Academic Youth Theater, Sofia Apfelbaum, more than 130 million rubles allocated for the project.
