In November 2018, the Supreme Court of the Chuvash Republic sentenced 41-year-old Sergei Ilyin, who was found guilty of mercenarism, public calls for extremism, inciting hatred and rehabilitation of Nazism, to 3.5 years in prison.
On November 26, 2018, it became known that in Chuvashia the Supreme Court of the Republic issued a verdict in the case against 41-year-old Sergei Ilyin. Let us remind you that he was accused of:
• part 3 art. 359 of the Criminal Code (participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict);
• hh. 1 and 3 tbsp. 354.1 of the Criminal Code (rehabilitation of Nazism and disrespect for the days of military glory of Russia);
• Part 1 Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (incitement of national hatred);
• part 2 art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremism on the Internet).
The case against Ilyin, registered in the Stavropol Territory, was initiated in Cheboksary in April 2018. According to law enforcement agencies, for a month he participated in the armed conflict in Ukraine on the side of the current authorities as a mercenary.
According to the investigation, in early November 2014, Ilyin, being a supporter of far-right ideology, came to Kyiv to participate in the armed conflict and joined the Ukrainian volunteer battalion “Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists” (OUN, banned in the Russian Federation). He then underwent military training and also received military uniforms, special equipment, firearms and ammunition. From November 21 to December 21, 2014, he took an active part in hostilities as a rifleman (call sign “Henry”), including in the village of Peski, Yasinovatsky district, Donetsk region. For mercenary work, Ilyin received a reward of at least 4 thousand hryvnia. Later he left the territory of Ukraine.
Also, according to investigators, in December 2014, July 2016, December 2017 and January 2018 on a social network, he published materials rehabilitating Nazism, calling for “extremist activities” and expressing disrespect for the days of military glory of Russia.
During the investigation, Ilyin fully admitted his guilt. The court sentenced him to 3.5 years in prison and a fine of 50 thousand rubles. In addition, he was deprived of the right to administer Internet sites, forums and chats for two years. We would like to remind you that since February 2018, Ilyin has also been accused in another criminal case initiated on the basis of attempted illegal sale of narcotic drugs on a large scale (part 3 of article 30 of the Criminal Code and paragraph “d” of part 4 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code). As follows from the case materials, in January 2018 he came to Cheboksary to sell drugs, but was soon detained. During his arrest, more than 11.5 grams of narcotic substances were found and confiscated. This case is already being considered in court.
It is reported that earlier, in 2016, Ilyin was brought to administrative responsibility for publishing images with a Nazi swastika on the VKontakte social network. Sources
