The Moscow City Court upheld the appeal of Andrei Popov, “God Kuzi.” The complaints of other participants in the same case were also left unsatisfied.

On November 26, 2018, it became known that the Moscow City Court upheld the appeal of Andrei Popov, “God Kuzi,” against the decision of the Presnensky District Court, which in July 2018 sentenced him to 5 years in prison. The complaints of other participants in the same case were also left unsatisfied. However, the court recalculated the term of imprisonment according to the new rules. As a result of the recount, Galina Markevich, sentenced to 4 years and 9 months in prison, was released in the courtroom, and Andrei Popov himself will be released in February 2019.

Let us remind you that Andrei Popov was found guilty under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed by an organized group or on a particularly large scale or resulting in the deprivation of a citizen’s right to residential premises) and Part 3 of Art. 239 of the Criminal Code (participation in a religious or public association whose activities involve violence against citizens or other harm to their health) and was sentenced to 5 years in prison on July 16, 2018. Galina Markevich, Zhanna Frolushkina, Ekaterina Grekhova, Nadezhda and Maria Rozanov were involved in the same case.
