The Moscow City Court recognized as legal the refusal to release the leader of the movement “For Human Rights” Lev Ponomarev from a special detention center for the funeral of human rights activist Lyudmila Alekseeva, reports on Twitter. MBKh-Media

Ponomarev himself was not brought to the meeting, although he asked for it.

On the eve of the farewell, the judge of the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow, Dmitry Gordeev, rejected Ponomarev’s request to release him in order to say goodbye to the human rights activist. He decided that Alekseeva was not a close person to the human rights activist, and their communication was limited to working on joint projects.

On December 5, a 77-year-old human rights activist received 25 days of arrest for a post on Facebook about the action “For your and our children” in support of those involved in the “Penza case” and the “New Greatness” case. This decision was also made by Judge Gordeev, who found Ponomarev guilty of repeated violation of the rules of public events (Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). The Moscow City Court reduced the term to 16 days.

At a press conference on December 20, President Vladimir Putin said that he does not question the fairness of the court’s decision, which arrested Ponomarev for a post on Facebook.
