A case was opened in Irkutsk for a video on a social network

In Irkutsk, a case was opened against a 21-year-old student of the Russian Law Academy for a video posted on a social network.

In December 2018, the third department for the investigation of particularly important cases of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for the Irkutsk Region opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or enmity).

According to investigators, from 2016 to 2018. a third-year student at the Irkutsk branch of the Russian Law Academy sent messages and videos to his classmates on social networks, " which contained information aimed at inciting hatred, enmity towards national and religious minorities ." The media report that the student sent, among other things, a video about the attack on the Columbine school and offered to commit a similar attack.

The case came from the FSB. Previously, the young man was not brought to criminal responsibility.
