Russian government experts warned of a failure of the national communications system due to the Klishas law on the Autonomous Runet

The autonomous non-profit organization Digital Economy, founded by the government, Sberbank, Skolkovo, Yandex, Mail.Ru Group and Beeline, has criticized the bill on the autonomous operation of the Russian segment of the Internet, reports The Bell .

According to experts, the provisions of the bill may lead to an increase in the load on the network infrastructure, a violation of the quality of connections and failures in the national communication system. “The proposed model, instead of increasing the reliability of the Russian segment of the Internet, creates a critical vulnerability for it,” the review says.

The implementation of the bill will require "tens of billions of rubles," ANO experts say. Expenditures will fall on the purchase of expensive equipment for traffic routing, its maintenance, maintenance of communication channels, as well as compensation for damage to operators.

On December 14, a group of senators led by Senator Andrey Klishas submitted to the State Duma a bill on creating an infrastructure for autonomous operation of the Runet in the event that it is disconnected from the global network under sanctions. The senator is also one of the authors of bills on administrative punishment for insulting the authorities and on the prohibition of fake news on the Internet.

After Klishas' interview with Novaya Gazeta, where a statement about the State Duma was made, the media, citing sources, reported that the deputies decided to postpone consideration of bills on regulating the Internet. Later, Leonid Levin, chairman of the relevant Duma committee on information policy, said that work on Klishas' initiatives "is proceeding as usual."
