Administrative cases under Art. 20.3 Code of Administrative Offences. January 2019

Due to the increase in the number of administrative cases under Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (propaganda and public demonstration of Nazi symbols and symbols of banned organizations), we combine such cases into a single list for each month.

• On January 11, 2019, the Zelenodolsk City Court of the Republic of Tatarstan sentenced to arrest for 5 days a local resident T. Yusupov, who published images of Nazi symbols on his page on the VKontakte social network, namely "swastika, Kolovrat, Celtic cross, death's head, runes "zig" and "odal". During the trial, Yusupov admitted his guilt and declared remorse. Previously, he was already involved under Art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (dissemination of extremist materials).

• On January 22, 2019, the Roslavl City Court of the Smolensk Region fined a local resident born in 1984 1,000 rubles for posting some photos with Nazi symbols on his social network page in 2018.

• On January 31, 2019, the Aznakaevsky City Court of the Republic of Tatarstan fined a 37-year-old local resident of 2,000 rubles for posting some photos with Nazi symbols on a social network. In what context the photos were posted and what exactly was depicted on them was not reported.

• On January 30, 2019, the Leninsky District Court of the city of Izhevsk, Udmurt Republic, fined 20-year-old student E. Agafonova 1,000 rubles for posting an image containing Nazi symbols on the VKontakte social network. The context in which the publication was made was not reported.

• On January 28, 2019, it became known that in the Irkutsk region, the Usolsky City Court fined A. Pchelkin for 1.5 thousand rubles for posting images with Nazi symbols on his VKontakte page. It is also reported that during the meeting the man used the services of a sign language interpreter. Pchelkin was also fined under Art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

• On January 28, 2019, it became known that in the Udmurt Republic a court fined two prisoners of IK-7 (born in 1978 and 1982) for 1,000 rubles for publicly demonstrating their swastika tattoos.

• On January 15, 2019, in Ryazan, the Moskovsky District Court fined a local resident for 1,000 rubles for posting a photo with two swastikas “ made against a snowy background” on his social network page. The press service of the court also notes that the “official” who drew up the protocol initially qualified the offense under Art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (distribution of extremist materials), but the article was changed in court.

• In January 2019, it became known that in Voronezh the Kominternovsky District Court fined Vyacheslav Matytsin 1,000 rubles. According to the case file, he posted images with Nazi symbols on his VKontakte page. Unfortunately, we do not know what kind of materials we are talking about, however, according to Matytsin himself, their publication was connected with his passion for historical reconstruction.
