Apple will reduce iPhone prices abroad

Apple intends to reduce the prices of some models of iPhones in countries where the national currency has significantly decreased in relation to the American one. It is reported by Reuters with reference to the head of Tim Cook Corporation.

Reducing prices will occur for a second time in 12 years of the existence of a smartphone. Apple will adjust prices in local currency, bringing them closer to last year to raise sales in the regions.

Cook noted that in countries where national currencies noticeably weakened towards the dollar, "the increase in prices for iPhones was obviously more significant." The decision was made after assessing the macroeconomic conditions in these markets.

It is still unknown which countries are in question, but earlier representatives of Apple reported that among the countries that have been raising prices are Russia, Türkiye, Brazil and China.

In Russia, Apple prices have risen twice over the past six months - after the presentation of new models in September and since 2019 due to VAT increase. Apple estimated the new iPhone XS, released in September at $ 999, as well as its predecessor iPhone X, released in 2017. In Russia, the cost of the iPhone XS started from 87,990 rubles.
