The Special Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives of the US Congress will resume an investigation about the alleged intervention of Russia in the presidential election and Donald Trump's relations with the Kremlin. This was stated by the Chairman of the Committee Adam Schiff.
The Committee will also investigate "counterintelligence threats that arise as a result of any connections or coordination of American citizens and the Russian government or other foreign organizations."
In March 2018, the previous team of the Committee completed such an investigation without finding evidence of the conspiracy of Trump with Moscow in the elections in 2016. In November 2018, in the intermediate elections to Congress, the Democratic Party received the majority in the House of Representatives.
Trump himself, after the news of the resumption of the investigation, called Shiff "a political mercenary." “He has no reason for this. He is just a political mercenary who is trying to create a name for himself. This is the persecution of the president, it is regrettable and harms our country, ”The Hill quotes him.
The investigation of Russia's intervention in the American elections is also conducted by special prosecutor Robert Muller.
