The Bell: the nominal owner of the Arashukovs' apartment was convicted of hostage-taking

The apartment in St. Petersburg, which was searched in the case of Senator from Karachay-Cherkessia Rauf Arashukov and his father Raul Arashukov, belongs to a local resident who, at the age of 19, received a suspended sentence of one and a half years for taking hostages by a group of persons (Part 2 of Article 206 of the Criminal Code), reports The Bell citing data from Rosreestr.

Initially, the publication named the man’s first and last name, but later edited the note, adding that this information is not disclosed under the law on the protection of personal data. Mention of the man’s criminal record also disappeared from the news (the copy that mentioned the suspended sentence was saved in the cache).

According to Rosreestr, the man actively buys and almost immediately sells real estate; since the early 2000s, several dozen apartments in the center of St. Petersburg have been registered in his name.

Now, according to the publication, the man owns an apartment on the top floor of the Novaya Zvezda residential complex on Pesochnaya Embankment, which was searched in the Arashukov case. Real estate prices in this complex start from 50 million rubles.

The former owner of this apartment - the president of the Spark aircraft repair holding Yuri Borisov - told The Bell that the apartment was sold by his ex-wife, he does not know the buyer, and he has not heard anything about it.

According to the publication, the second apartment, which is similar in description to the one in which the search took place, belonged to St. Petersburg businessman Dmitry Mikhalchenko, who was sentenced to four years and seven months in prison under Part 3 of Article 200.2 of the Criminal Code (smuggling of elite alcohol).

Senator Arashukov is accused of organizing two murders (Part 3 of Article 33, paragraphs “g” and “h” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code), putting pressure on a witness (Part 4 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code) and participation in a criminal community (Part 3 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code ) and was arrested. His father and top managers of Gazprom’s regional structures also appear in the case; they are accused of stealing gas from the company in the amount of more than 30 billion rubles.

According to RBC , the senator’s arrest was preceded by his conflict with the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Karachay-Cherkessia, Kazimir Botashev. Having gone to work for the National Guard, he ensured that “a large volume of materials” on the senator and his father were transferred to the president.
