Natalya Serebryanskaya, teacher of St. Petersburg University of ITMO, in which several floors collapsed on February 16, said that the acting governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, did not withdraw her from the building, as some media reported. She told about this to the Baza Telegram channel.

“Are you joking? We have a high fifth floor. What a civilian will climb and who will let him go there. Below stood a governor with civilians. He did not let me come to his senses, put on his jacket and shook his hand. Of course he did not bring me out. These well done guys brought me out, ”said Serebryanskaya.

Soon after the collapse, reports appeared about the heroic act of Beglov. It was reported that he was among the first to arrive at the scene and personally brought the woman who was on the upper floors of the building, to the street, and then handed over the ambulance to the team.

The collapse of floors and roofs from the fifth to the second floor occurred on Saturday evening, February 16. Students and teachers who were in the building were evacuated. As a result of the incident, no one was injured. The criminal case was opened under Art. 216 of the Criminal Code ("Violation of safety rules in the maintenance of construction or other work").
