Those involved in the Bakhchisarai case of Hizb ut-Tahrir have been charged under the article of seizure of power

Eight people are now charged under Art. 278 of the Criminal Code.

On February 22, 2019, eight defendants in the criminal case on prohibited activities Islamic radical party "Hizb ut-Tahrir", initiated in Bakhchisarai, was charged under Art. 278 of the Criminal Code (forcible seizure authorities).

Remember, six residents of Bakhchisarai - Server Zekiryaev, Ernest Ametov, Timur Ibragimov, Seyran Saliev, Marlen Asanov and Memet Belyalov were detained in October 2017. Server Mustafaev and Edem Smailov - in May 2018, all of them accused of involvement in the activities of a terrorist organization under Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code, later their cases were combined into one proceeding. Seyran Saliev was also charged under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code in propaganda terrorism on the Internet for publishing a certain video on his page in VKontakte, which was removed in 2017.

On March 5, 2019, it became known that the charges against Marlen Asanov, Timur Ibragimov and Memet Belyalov were reclassified from Part 2 of Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of a terrorist organization) in part 1 of the same article (organization of the activities of a terrorist organization).

We oppose the accusation of supporters of Hizb ut-Tahrir on anti-terrorist articles, since the organization does not practice violence and they are charged only party activity - holding meetings, studying and disseminating party literature, etc. And the fact that the party preaches the idea of ​​creating a worldwide Islamic Caliphate, does not provide grounds for accusing her followers of planning a violent seizure of power in Russia.
