On February 26, 2019, it became known that the Orthodox community was outraged by the performance of a humorous song from the 1990s about the US bombing in St. Isaac's Cathedral. The song was performed by a chamber choir on February 23.

“ It is clear that this temple is simply a museum with a concert hall - that is why it was not given to the Church: so that they could sing about atomic motors there ,” the priest comments on the situation. What if he demands that the article on insulting the feelings of believers be applied to the fullest extent?! And you can’t say anything - they insulted you. And they just staged a performance in the museum .”

In part, the discussion of what can and cannot be sung in church is another round of confrontation between opponents and supporters of the transfer of St. Isaac's Cathedral to the St. Petersburg diocese.
