Trump extended sanctions against Russia for another year

US President Donald Trump for a year extended the sanctions imposed in 2014 in relation to persons who “undermine democratic processes” in Ukraine. This is stated in the message of the White House.

“The actions and politics that are discussed in these decrees continue to pose an extraordinary and extraordinary threat to the interests of national security and the foreign staff of the United States. Therefore, I extend the regime of [sanctioned] emergency for one year, declared by Decree 13660, ”the explanatory note signed by the president says.

In the spring of 2014, the United States, the European Union and some other countries imposed sanctions against Russia because of the capture of Crimea and the war in the southeast of Ukraine. Several times the restrictions were tightened. In response of the Russian Federation, it imposed its sanctions, prohibiting the import of agricultural products, raw materials and food from the USA, EU, Australia, Canada, etc. In particular, the list includes meat and dairy products, fish, vegetables, fruits and nuts.
