KHMAO: fine for Islamic videos

U. Yahyaev was fined for the video "Miracles of the Koran" and "I am a Catholic and I will go to hell."

On February 28, 2019, the Megion City Court of the KhMAO fined 1,000 rubles under Art. 20.29 (mass distribution of extremist materials) Umar Yahyaeva.

Yahyaev pleaded guilty to the fact that in 2013 he added videos "Miracles of the Koran" and "I am a Catholic and I will go to hell" to his page on VKontakte, which were recognized as extremist. He did not know about the ban on videos and subsequently forgot that he added them.

From our point of view, the film "Miracles of the Koran" (item 873 of the Federal List of Extremist Materials) was illegally recognized as extremist (our position is described in more detail here ). In the video "I am a Catholic and I will go to hell" with a sermon by the Indian theologian Zahir Naik, who is close to Wahhabism, we also do not see aggressive calls and therefore we believe that his ban is unlawful. Accordingly, the persecution of Yakhyaev was also unlawful.
