Kirill Serebrennikov extended the arrest until July

Director Kirill Serebrennikov, involved in the case of the Seventh Studio, extended the arrest until July 4.

For the same period, two other defendants in the case will remain under house arrest - the director of the Russian Academic Youth Theater Sofya Apfelbaum and the former general director of the Seventh Studio Yuri Itin.

The case of the Seventh Studio was opened after on May 23, 2017, investigators conducted searches at the place of residence and work of the founder of the studio, artistic director of Gogol-Center Kirill Serebrennikov.

According to the plot of the prosecution, Serebrennikov headed an organized group from among the employees of ANO “Seventh Studio”, which prepared incorrect estimates with high cost of work and false documents for reporting to the Ministry of Culture. According to investigators, in fact, funds from the subsidy were excreted through one-day firms and cashed out.

Other defendants in the case are the former general producer of the studio Alexei Malobrodsky, former general director Yuri Itin and ex -head of the organization Nina Maslyaeva.
