
The total donations for the restoration of the Cathedral of the Paris Mother of God exceeded the billion euros. This was reported by the newspaper Le Parisien.
According to the publication, funds mainly go from large companies and entrepreneurs, as well as from four public funds selected by the Ministry of Culture of France. Minister of Culture Frank Rester listed Internet portals, which can be trusted in his profile on Twitter and called on people to sacrifice the reconstruction of the cathedral.
France President Emmanuel Macron in the official appeal said that Notre Dame would be restored within five years.
Recall that the fire in the Cathedral of the Paris Mother of God began on the evening of April 15 during restoration work. He managed to put out after 14 hours. As a result, a spire and roofing were completely burned and collapsed.
The main frame of the cathedral was preserved, they also managed to endure the main relics from the building, including the crown of Jesus Christ.
The mayor of Paris Ann Idalgo said that the City Hall will allocate 50 million euros for the restoration of Notre Dame. The French businessman, president of the LVMH group of companies Bernard Arno promised to allocate € 200 million, the family of French businessmen Pino - € 100 million.
The main body of the Cathedral of the Paris Mother of God was not injured as a result of a fire. It also became known that during the fire it was possible to maintain all three windows-roses of the cathedral. These stained -glass windows dates back to the 13th century and are one of the few architectural elements of the building that have not been subjected to alteration. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of France reports that at least 30% of art in the cathedral was saved from fire.
The Cathedral of the Paris Mother of God is one of the symbols of the French capital. He was built on the initiative of the Parisian Bishop Maurice de Sully from 1163 to 1345. The restoration of the Gothic Council was already carried out in the 19th century: the sculptural part was repaired, damaged during the Great French Revolution, and a new spire was built.
