KCR resident fined for possession of banned book

M. Karaketov fined under art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for the book of Safi al-Rahman al-Mubarakfuri.

On April 12, 2019, the Ust-Dzhegutinsky District Court of Karachay-Cherkessia held liable under Art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (storage of extremist materials for the purpose of mass distribution) M. Karaketova. He was sentenced to a fine of 1 thousand rubles with confiscation of the subject of the offense.

The court established that Karaketov kept the book of Safi al-Rahman al-Mubarakfuri for distribution purposes. Apparently, it is a book "The Life of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and welcome."

Various editions of this book in the Federal List of Extremist Materials several times have been included . The book is a biography of the Prophet Muhammad, outlining the events of the era of the formation of Islam; at the same time, the text reflects the worldview characteristic of medieval Muslim religious literature, on which the book is based. We believe that it was illegally banned - accordingly, we believe that Karaketov was also illegally punished. It should be noted that the ECHR is currently considering the complaint of the publishing house "Publisher Ezhaev A.K." to ban this book.
