
The Supreme Prosecutor's Office of the PRC arrested the former head of Interpol Meng Hunwei, suspected of receiving bribes. This was reported on the website of the department.
Recall that in October 2018, the French police launched an investigation on the loss of Meng Hunwei, who lived in Lyon, at the appeal of his wife. Hunwei left France to China at the end of September, after which he stopped in touch.
Shortly before the disappearance, the ex-head of Interpol sent a message to his wife with the image of a knife, the woman herself reported . In her opinion, her husband tried to make her understand that he was in danger. In early October, the media reported that Hunwei was interrogated in China. A few days later, the President of Interpol sent a resignation application.
Later, the Ministry of Public Security of the PRC reported that the former President of Interpola Meng Hunwei was detained in the corruption case. “Menn Hunwei received bribes, and he is suspected of violating the law,” the department said.
Meng Hunwei has held his position since 2016. He became the first representative of China, who was appointed President of Interpol. After the resignation, his place was taken by the representative of South Korea Kim Jung Yang.
