Fake "Time" program: After the transition to digital broadcasting, almost 50 million Russians watch television of high clarity

The program "Time" on Channel One spoke about the press conference of the deputy head of the Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation Alexei Volina:

“Almost 50 million people in 28 regions of Russia are already watching high -clay television. The results of the second stage of the transition from analogue broadcasting to digital were summed up the deputy head of the Ministry of Communications Alexei Volin. According to him, the simultaneous shutdown on April 15 of an outdated format in 20 regions became the largest in Europe. <...>

The third wave of transition to a modern broadcast format starts on June 3. Free television channels in digital quality will gradually become available to residents of the remaining 57 Russian regions. ”

The total population of 28 regions, where the transmission of an analogue television signal has been terminated, really is about 49.9 million people. But the transition to digital broadcasting did not at all make television of high clarity (HD - High Definition) more affordable.

After disconnecting the analogy signal, the only way to receive a television signal is the etheric digital broadcasting in the DVB-T2 standard. In principle, this standard allows the HD signal transmission, but in Russia this opportunity is not used to transmit more channels at the same frequency. The picture of Russian etheric digital television has exactly the same clarity as the analogy, however, looks cleaner, since less interference.

Television of high clarity in Russia can be taken through satellite systems and through the Internet protocol (IPTV). The first option requires a satellite antenna “plates”, the second-broadband cable Internet. This is in no way connected with the rejection of analogue television. You can watch television in HD quality throughout the country, and not only in 28 regions, but this is a paid service.

The number of paid TV subscribers in Russia at the end of 2018 was 44.2 million, but about 43% of them accounted for cable systems that did not translate the HD format.

It should be noted that in the reports of other media about the press conference of Volina, high-clay television is not mentioned.
