Ukraine appealed to the UN Security Council in connection with the introduction by President Vladimir Putin the simplified procedure for issuing Russian passports to residents of individual regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. This was announced by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Vladimir Yelchenko.
“On behalf of Poroshenko, they have already applied to the UN Security Council. This impudent step contradicts the approved Security Council by Minsk agreements, ”wrote the Permanent Representative on Twitter.
Earlier today, Putin signed a decree “On the determination of the humanitarian purposes of the categories of persons entitled to apply for applications for the citizenship of the Russian Federation in a simplified manner”. According to the decree, such a right is received by persons permanently residing in the territories of individual regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine. Consideration of applications for admission to citizenship of these persons “is carried out within a period not exceeding three months” from the date of submission of the application and the necessary list of documents. Citizenship will be provided from the date of decision.
