
Seven people died as a result of an avalanche at the South Chuy Range in the Altai Republic, TASS reports .
A group of nine Novosibirsk tourists fell under the avalanche, which went on May 6. Two of them managed to survive, on May 8 they reached the village of Kosh-Agach and talked about what happened. Due to the fact that there was no connection in the mountains, they were able to give a distress signal earlier.
“A helicopter with rescuers from Gorno-Altaysk for conducting search work, extracting tourists from under an avalanche is flying to the scene,” the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies in the region said.
