Sulaimon Saidov filed a complaint with the ECHR

Sulaymon Saidov, who became the victim of a xenophobic attack in 2016, filed a complaint with the ECtHR.

On May 14, 2019, it became known that Sulaimon Saidov, a citizen of Tajikistan, applied to the European Court of Human Rights.

On April 8, 2016, Saidov was attacked in the Moscow metro - 61-year-old Sergey Tsarev shot him several times in the head and stomach with a traumatic pistol. On August 3, 2018, the jury found Tsarev guilty under Part 1 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code with the application of Art. 30 of the Criminal Code (attempted murder) and the Cheryomushkinsky District Court of Moscow sentenced him to 10 years and 3 months in prison in a strict regime colony.

In his complaint, Saidov insists that Russia conducted an ineffective investigation of the criminal case and imposed an inadequate punishment on the perpetrator, and also did not take into account the motive of racial and national hatred in the verdict and refused to consider a civil claim for compensation for moral and material damage. Thus, according to Saidov, Russia violated Articles 2, 3, 13 and 14 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights.   Sources
