The site at the intersection of Godovikova and Simonov streets was provided to the parish of the mosque "Rahmatulla" back in 2011. After the site was fenced off, some of the local residents were indignant and stated that this area belongs to the school. Spiritual Administration of the Republic of Tatarstan then managed to prove that the site was not used by the school, and to collect 300 signatures in support of construction.
Then the opponents of the construction of the mosque complained about lack of public hearings. Construction was suspended and The site was re-allocated in 2014. However, the construction didn't start.
In 2019, construction was started at street Simonova, 2. However, local residents in the amount of about 100 people staged protest action.
