
The European Court of Human Rights awarded 1 million 640 thousand euros to residents of Chechnya and Ingushetia, whose relatives disappeared during the special operations of the Russian military in the 2000s, Mediazone reports .
The court ruled that in relation to the applicants, they violated statue 2 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms, which guarantees the right to life, Article 3, which prohibits torture, as well as Article 5 and 13, guaranteeing the right to freedom and personal integrity and the right to effective means of legal protection.
Relatives of 20 missing residents of Ingushetia and Chechnya awarded 170 thousand euros of compensation for material damage, as well as 1 million 470 thousand compensation for moral damage.
