On the island of Stromboli in the Tyrrne Sea, not far from the banks of Sicily, the volcanic eruption began. One tourist, who was on excursions at the Sele of the Volcano, was killed, another person was injured, reports ANSA.
According to eyewitnesses, two streams of lava flow down the slope of the mountain. The ashes falling from the sky led to several fires on the island.
As the local publication La Sicilia reports, some resting after the explosions panicked and rushed into the sea.
Half of the island is not visible due to the smoke that rises up.
Local authorities said they were ready to take everyone out of the island, but they note that there are no reasons for evacuation.
Fire teams arrived on the island, which began extinguishing forest fires.
