The ECHR awarded 3,600 euros to the head of the Committee against torture for the illegal detention in 2007

The European Court of Human Rights awarded 3,600 euros to the head of the “Committee against torture” Igor Kalyapin for the illegal detention on the “Mark of the Disagent” in 2007. It is reported by "Apology of Protest."

On March 24, 2007, in Nizhny Novgorod, a “marsh of disagreements” was held, which was not agreed on the pretext of conducting the children's holiday “City of Masters”. The police "without a dismissal detained at the venue of a peaceful action," writes "Apology of Protest." Among the detainees was Kalyapin, who came there to observe the actions of the police and fix the facts of torture and inhuman circulation regarding protesters.

In the police department, Kalyapin was held for more than four hours and released without drawing up the protocol. An attempt to bring police officers to justice in the Russian court was unsuccessful.

In May 2012, the ECHR communicated the complaint to the authorities under Art. 5, Art. 2 of the protocol 4 to the European Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and Article 13. As a result, the court recognized a violation of 5 (“The right to freedom and personal integrity”) and 13 (“The right to an effective means of legal protection”) of the articles of the Convention and set compensation for moral damage in the amount of 1000 and 2600 euros for reimbursement of expenses.
