Russian volleyball team coach disqualified for racist gesture

Sergio Buzato portrayed "narrow eyes" after the victory of the Russian team over the South Korean.

On August 23, 2019, it became known that the coach of the Russian women's volleyball team, Sergio Buzato, was disqualified for the next 3 matches. The reason for the sanction was that on August 4 in Kaliningrad, after the match Russia - South Korea (3: 2), Buzato depicted “narrow eyes” on his face.

The Commission of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) considered this gesture unacceptable and decided to punish the coach.   Sources
