Taganrog: criminal cases have been initiated against the anti-Semitic movement

In September 2019, in the city of Taganrog, Rostov Region, a case was initiated on the creation and participation in an extremist community and possession of weapons against members of the anti-Semitic group Union of the Peoples of the Sun with the Peoples of the Crescent, which was headed by a local activist of the Left Front.

The movement was created on the basis of the Ukrainian new organization Allatra, and the central element of its ideology is the fight against "world Zionism". He is also characterized by Stalinism and the messianic idea, according to which the Russian nation must save humanity and unite the peoples of the world around itself. According to a press release from the UFSBO, "the main goal of the community is the fight against Jews and representatives of Orthodox Jewish religious associations, including by force, for which a combat group was created on the basis of the movement." Details, unfortunately, are unknown, and we do not know what exactly this "battle group" managed to accomplish, what were its goals and composition.
The leader of the Union is the coordinator of the "Left Front" in the Rostov region, Sergei Shurygin. He is accused of organizing an extremist community (part 1 of article 282.1 of the Criminal Code) and illegal acquisition of weapons and ammunition (part 1 of article 222 of the Criminal Code). The remaining members of the movement (who, unfortunately, is unknown) are charged with participation in an extremist community (Part 2, Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). It is noteworthy that a number of media reported that Shurygin is an ex-police officer, but the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Rostov region denies this, saying that such a citizen was not in the service.
