The General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was arrested in the case of extortion of 100 million rubles

The Basmanny Court of Moscow sent under the arrest of Major General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Alexander Melnikov, accused in the case of particularly large fraud. About this writes "Interfax." Melnikov is accused of extorting 100 million rubles for closing a criminal case.

Earlier it was reported that in January-February 2019, Melnikov, together with the former head of the Presnensky criminal police service, Ivan Vikov and two more acquaintances, entered into a conspiracy and tried to receive 100 million rubles from the entrepreneur Panyushkin for the closure of a criminal case against him.

Melnikov was arrested until November 24. The court refused him in his home arrest at the request of protection.
