The prosecutor asks that the alleged Hizb ut-Tahrir member be sentenced to 17 years in prison

Enver Seitosmanov is accused of organizing the activities of a terrorist organization.

On December 4, 2019, during a court hearing in the Southern District Military Court, the prosecutor demanded that Enver Seitosmanov be found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code (organization of the activities of a terrorist organization) and sentence him to 17 years in prison.

Seitosmanov is accused of being a member of the banned Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir in Russia. He was detained in May 2018 along with his brother Ernes. The security forces searched their house and their mother's house in the village of Sadovoe, after which they took the men to the FSB department.

We believe that accusing members of Hizb ut-Tahrir of promoting terrorism only on the basis of party activities (holding meetings, reading literature, etc.) and persecuting them under anti-terrorist articles is unlawful.
