A Russian ship that fell under US sanctions was arrested in Singapore

The Hudson navigable company, which fell under US sanctions against the DPRK, informed the Singapore authorities in court to confiscate their Sevastopol ship for debts. On his board of which there are 12 crew members, Interfax reports .

“Singapore sent the papers that the ship was arrested due to debts for parking, applying to court and will take this ship, sell it from auction. We can lose this ship. The meeting is scheduled for December 17, ”said Oleg Anikin, Deputy General Director of Fleet Management of the Company.

He specified that the company owed a large amount for parking in the port.

“We went into Singapore, unloaded, we have broken auxiliary diesel engines there. In order to make them, they began to contact Singapore ship repair companies. 80-90% of them refused to provide us with services due to the fact that the company and the ship are under sanctions, ”the company representative said. He added that local companies refuse to supply fuel to the ship.

In October 2018, Sevastopol was detained in the port of the South Korean Busan. The shipowner emphasized that the ship was never in North Korea and was not connected with her, and the company's losses in connection with the incident have millions of dollars.

Later, the ambassador of South Korea Yun Gyn was called to the Russian Foreign Ministry due to the detention of a Russian vessel. After that he was released.

In the summer of 2019, 12 members of the Sevastopol crew asked the transport prosecutor's office to help their repatriation from Singapore, as the shipowner did not send them home.

The United States has been included in the DPRK sanctions for two Russian companies and six ships. According to the American Ministry of Finance, these vessels allegedly participated in the supply of purified oil products, which were pumped from Russian to North Korean vessels in the open sea.
