“Everyone has a Valentine, and I have a letter from the prosecutor.” Ivan Golunov was apologized for the criminal case

Journalist Ivan Kolunov, against whom in the summer of 2019 they fabricated the case of drugs, received written apologies for the prosecutor of Moscow CJSC. He posted a copy of the letter in his Telegram channel.

The journalist was detained on June 6 on Tsvetnoy Boulevard in Moscow. For more than 12 hours he was not allowed to contact relatives and call a lawyer. In the Internal Affairs Directorate in the Western District of Moscow on Lobachevsky Street he was beaten. Washes of the hands and cuts of nails that would make it possible to find out whether he touched the drugs, were carried out a day after the arrest.

Golunov's case provoked mass pickets to his support near the building of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on Petrovka, as well as in other countries. Media representatives, public figures, musicians, actors, and politicians advocated the termination of the case. On June 10, Kommersant, Vedomosti and RBC for the first time in history came out with the same first stripes, in which it was written in large font: “I/we Ivan Golunov”. Also on June 12, a march was planned to support it, which was actively hindered by the Moscow authorities.

After the liberation of Golunov, the organizers decided not to cancel the rally, but they refused to call people to the streets. As a result, more than 500 people were detained against the shares against fabricated cases, including many Golunov colleagues.
