Engels: prisoner suspected of calling for extremism

According to investigators, the prisoner called for xenophobic violence.

On February 19, 2020, it became known that a criminal case was initiated in the Saratov region under Part 1 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremism). A prisoner in IK-2 in Engels became a suspect.

According to investigators, the man “urged convicts to join right-wing radical groups in order to physically eliminate people from the North Caucasian region and Transcaucasia.”

According to media reports, the prisoner is serving a sentence under Art. Art. 131 of the Criminal Code (rape), 132 of the Criminal Code (sexual assault), 158 of the Criminal Code (theft) and 161 of the Criminal Code (robbery).
