FOM: Nine percent of Russians observe Lent in 2020

The FOM has released public opinion poll data regarding the observance of Lent.

On March 31, 2020, the FOM published opinion poll data regarding the observance of Lent.

The survey was conducted on March 21-22, 2020 year, it was attended by 1500 respondents from 104 settlements of Russia.

Survey participants were asked several questions with fixed response options.

For example, do you consider yourself a believer person and what religion you belong to. 26% of respondents do not consider themselves believers, 59% consider themselves themselves to Orthodoxy, 8% - to Islam, 2% were Protestants and Catholics.

On When asked if you are observing Great Lent this year, 90% answered in the negative. Only 9% observe fasting (of which “strictly observe” 3% and “not strictly” - 6%).

Unfortunately, exactly how "non-strict" believers observe Great Lent, according to the survey it is impossible to understand. But attention is drawn to the average the income level of the respondents is from 9 to 45 thousand rubles. Only 8% of respondents indicated in their response that their monthly personal income is more than 45 thousand rubles.
