Residents of Blagoveshchensk opposed the construction of the Church of the Albazin Icon of the Mother of God in the park at the intersection of Lenin and Chaikovsky streets. They would like to see a completely different cathedral here.
On May 5, it became known that the residents of Blagoveshchensk against the construction of a temple in the park at the intersection of Lenin (formerly Bolshaya) and Tchaikovsky (formerly Craft), where before the revolution there was a convent.
The reason is atypical: the townspeople would like to see revived cathedral, blown up in 1936 (and since 2007 they have been collecting signatures for restoration of this particular building), and the diocese is building the temple in a completely different way project.
“ The snow-white church will gracefully fit into the square, which will be completely preserved in its original form and will be called "Albazinsky" by the name of the temple ", - say the representatives of the diocese.
The protesters at the same time remind that for many years they collected money for the restoration of Troitsky cathedral, built according to the project of Semyon Shadrin and known in the city as "Shadrinsky Cathedral". The reconstruction of this temple in 2007 was included in the municipal target program for the development of tourism in Blagoveshchensk. For the sake of recovery of this building in 2009 the cinema was demolished "Amur", and in 2011 a bow cross was installed in the square in memory of the destroyed cathedral.
