A 26-year-old local resident was found guilty of publicly calling for extremism. On June 9, 2020, in Kostroma, a court found a 26-year-old local resident guilty under Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public incitement to extremism on the Internet) and sentenced to two and a half years in prison, suspended for two years and with deprivation of the right to administer websites for a year and a half.
The initiation of a criminal case became known in May 2020. According to investigators, from February 2016 to 2020, the young man posted audio and video recordings calling for xenophobic and anti-state violence on his VKontakte page.
